The Secret to Keeping the Spark Alive

I, together with my boyfriend, Gab, decided to go to Westfield Chatswood to have lunch for our 17th monthsary today, and yes, we are cheesy that way – we still celebrate our monthsaries even after a year of being together. Some people find it ridiculous, but yeah, that’s just us.

I expected coming home with a full stomach seeing as it was our initial plan. BUT, I came home surprisingly, with three things: a full stomach, a bouquet of white Pom Pom flowers, and a pet, Mini Lop. I guess we are spontaneous that way.

We ate in this restaurant called The Bulgogi, and as expected, because I love Korean cuisine, I enjoyed eating our orders (Galbi, Bulgogi and Bibimbap) so much. It was a charcoal barbecue restaurant, so we had to grill our own meat.

We then decided to walk around Westfield, and while I was paying for my bralette from Cotton On Body, Gab surprised me from behind with a bouquet of Pom Pom flowers from P.S. Floral Design. (By the way, I have this new obsession with bralettes, and I hope to share it with you guys in my future blogs).

After which, Gab and I surprisingly found a pet shop called Pet Town. It was the first ever pet shop we’ve ever seen around Sydney, so we were very much amused. They had a few Cavoodle dogs, goldfish, fighting fish and of course, all sorts of rabbits/bunnies. We bought our Mini Lop, whose name is Cooper. He is only six weeks old, which makes him so adorable. We’re now enjoying his company at home, as well as cleaning his poop and pee on the couch..

This day simply shows how spontaneous we can get at times. Spontaneity, I believe, is very important in a relationship. Let us face it, most, if not all relationships get less exciting, less adventurous, and less-whatever through the months or years (whatever the case may be). Probably because you were already given the time to get to know each other well and get used to having each other most of the time. And I think that spontaneity is the secret to keeping the spark alive. However, spontaneity is not something that one can force as well, it comes with the person you’re in a relationship with, and I guess sometimes, it just happens.

P.S. – just sharing with all of you today’s adventures, no brand sponsorship or whatsoever. And in this platform, I can assure you guys that I will not be promoting any store, brand, restaurant or what not that I do not truly believe in.

xo,
Ryna

  1. Not sure how I landed here but hi Ryna! Haha 🙂 I do think it’s important to celebrate the little things in a relationship and I believe that does help “keep the spark alive” for sure. And I can also relate to how people tell me it’s stupid to celebrate every month, whatever! I myself also celebrate every month with my boyfriend and we always remind each other how many months it has been (time really does fly and I can’t keep track anymore!). I recognise these places as I’m from Sydney as well and Chatswood is defs my favourite place to hang with the boyfriend. And omg PetTown is probably the best pet store I’ve seen within Sydney (as they have so many different types of dogs etc) and I’ve been to many so I’m glad you’ve got to visit there as well! Finally, thanks for sharing your little adventure and happy 17th monthsary to you and your partner 😊

    P.s. What a cutie! 🐰

    • Hey there Sandra! I’m really happy to see someone agree with me on these certain aspects. I love Chatswood as there are so many restaurant and cafe options, but I love hanging out with my boyfriend in Macquarie as well when we’re in for some shopping together. Let me know if you find better pet shops! I think as an international student here in Sydney, pets are a good company. ❤️ Glad to have bumped into you here, will definitely read some of your posts. Wanna hear the same about you, seems like we’ll find some common interests. 😉

      • Hi Ryna (: Yes I’ll definitely let you know if I find better pet shops! 😊 I love Macquarie Centre too, especially after all those renovations to include so many international brands like h&m, forever21, uniqlo etc!

Yes I agree, who doesn’t love pets?! It’s always great to always have someone to go home to, to talk to and share little moments with.

I’m also glad I found you too! If you ever need any help in regards to Sydney or need someone to talk to, feel free to contact me 😌

Oh and do you have any restaurant recommendations for Chatswood for next time I go? 😏
